Very Belated Look at Finished Quilts From 2022 from Quilty Folk

It's way late to do a end of the year wrap up post so if this isn't your thing, please feel free to move along. It's mostly for my own records anyway, since quilts tend to get lost in the shuffle if I don't keep track. Last year ended with a respectable 15 quilts totally finished up. Not my best number, but definitely nothing to sneeze at. If I wouldn't have gotten so sick, there would possibly have been another to add to the list. Apparently it wasn't meant to be!

2022 Finishes (1 ...

Closing Down 2022 from Quilty Folk

Well, 2022 is going out with a whimper. I got sick the week before Christmas, barely pulled it together in time to enjoy a few good days with family and then, bam. Relapsed and now, probably bronchitis. Uggh. In my defense, it was super, super cold here for those weeks and I probably overdid things for the holiday.

All finished!
Anyway, real quick post here. These are my last finishes of the year! Moody 9-Patch which was started clear back in November of 2020. You can check out the antique inspiration on that post if you like.

Looking cozy
I ...

Moving Things Along from Quilty Folk

Trying to get a couple more finishes in before the end of the year. Moody 9-Patch has the initial phase of binding sewn on, all the clips on and now is waiting on the hand stitching time.

Moody 9-Patch getting a binding
It was a huge relief to get Country Stars all finished up and ready for gifting. I even managed to get the label stitched on!

Country Stars all finished up!
Next up will be making the time to deliver it. Gotta wait on my husbands schedule as we want to do it together. Sort of a 'Merry Christmas ...

Simple Projects from Quilty Folk

First of all, so sorry to everyone who is having trouble posting comments on my blog! I just don't have the energy to switch to a different platform and Blogger seems to want to be extra difficult these days. You can email a comment directly and I'll always respond. Otherwise, thanks for reading anyway! I figure there are lots like me out there, reading the blogs but doing a terrible time leaving feedback. I said never, never, but these days it's tempting to switch to Instagram where all you have to do it click on the 'heart ...

Catching Up from Quilty Folk

Somehow I've managed to drag it out to a solid two weeks between posts again. My dryer broke down, my good Bernina has been having problems and oh yeah, we left town to attend a very good friends funeral. Ughh. That pretty much knocked the wind out of me as she was very close to my age. Such a good person. We were friends for years starting with the fact that I happened to share the same name with her mom. Then our husbands were wild and crazy friends and somehow that brought about an introduction. We got married ...

Another Good Finish, Much Better Than It Set Out To Be from Quilty Folk

I've been buried in the back office lately, working on the paperwork for my husbands business. I'm always determined to better keep up on it. And then I don't. He's not a paperwork guy whatsoever, which makes my job harder. Whenever I try to get everything in order and wrangled onto the computer or into reports etc., it's a frustrating time for both of us. Sometimes I think we'd both be better off if he could just pay someone else to deal with it, but I know we really can't afford it, especially ...

A Whole Lotta Yellow from Quilty Folk

It's been a struggle to make time for this post. The days have finally started getting cooler around here and it feels like I've just sorta collapsed into an end-of-summer fugue state. Don't wanna do much of anything!

Looking very cozy
We had dinner with some friends the other night and during conversation, I complimented Jessica on her beautiful, intensely detailed tapestry type print she had hanging on the wall. She is a wonderful, successful artist with many followers on social media. Super talented! Anyway, long story short, she said that the tapestry was one of her ...

Another Completed Tulip Quilt! from Quilty Folk

Here we are, more than halfway through August and I've barely finished my 8th quilt this year! Just not getting as much done this year. You'll probably have a hard time believing this, but I have went almost two weeks now without any hand quilting. Can you sense how itchy my fingers are getting? It was totally worthwhile as we got to see a lot of family, but wowsers. It's always so lovely to come back home!

Glory Be is finished!
It's been a long time since my husband and I have managed to get away ...

Getting Through Summer from Quilty Folk

There is so little time to write posts these days! When and where that I do find the time, it ends up being ridiculously long and I have to keep coming back to proofread and/or add stuff that I've forgotten. Don't really love this cycle, but at least I haven't totally quit! Here is the latest quilt finish, 'Seedpod Flower'. It was started back in 2019 when I had that yellow/gold circle cut out from behind another quilt motif.

All the crumpled goodness!
You know how it goes around here. That mixed print circle sat ...

Such a Good Finish! from Quilty Folk

The HaHa quilt is totally finished up! So hard to believe after all these years that everything is done {except for a label}. It's been such a long time coming!

The HaHa Quilt is done!!!
As most of you know, I've always been just a little bit doubtful about the addition of the outside triangle border. Did it need it or not? I thought the added color would help make the center 'pop' better and give the entire quilt a bit more of a solid feeling. Then later I just wanted to rip it off because something about ...

Popping In For a Quick Update! from Quilty Folk

May has always been a busy month for us, but this year I made it worse. For reasons that totally made sense at the time, I scheduled a week long trip (leaving the end of April) to visit my oldest daughter in Oklahoma.

Loving the colors!
With everything that needed done before leaving, I had little to no time to post my latest quilt finish, AHIQ Hourglass. Plus it needed washed up so the crinkly goodness could shine!
I think this one is a winner
After I got back home, then there was all the laundry for me and of ...

All the Hiccups in the Process from Quilty Folk

The Big Kiss quilt is totally finished up now! This one was started back in 2020 mostly because I could not resist the siren call of the simple, graphic design.

The Big Kiss quilt is finished!
The top was complete {I thought} in about June of that year, but then, it just wasn't. I fiddled around with idea during the following January and then, finally got to true-blue quilt top stage by April

A little applique can go a very long ways!
Anyone who knows me understands that a quilt top has to be 'just right' before I can ...

A Fingerpaints finish-tada! from Sew Sunshine

This is the Fingerpaints quilt by Quiltfortco from last summers qal.
I used her pattern but made it improv style. I used a ton of scrappy solids and tone on tone pieces from my stash along with tons of strips in my scrap bins.
I finished it out a little bigger by using a few more strips.
74" x 79"

I grabbed a few photos but it has been super windy the last couple of days.

This was truly a fun quilt to make. I love the play on light with the fabrics and I ...

Baskets and Flowers from Quilty Folk

It was lovely to have company for a nice long weekend. The nieces are growing up way too fast! Can't believe one of them is already driving.*sigh We are getting too old! Most of the time when we have guests, I can get out the quilting and do a little stitching. This time I just mostly curled up in the corner of the couch and settled in for the good visiting.

So yeah, in terms of quilting, there is lost time. In terms of quality of life stuff? Who cares ...

Winter Cloth Napkins from Lily Patch Quilts

I am really loving sewing cloth napkins! They’re so quick and easy and really makes it more fun to use napkins. They are also a great scrap buster. I’ve made them as small as 7” square. There’s very little waste.

Ever since our move my quilting machine has been hidden under all sorts of stuff. Hubby has been helping me clean and organize stuff in my sewing area. I can finally see my quilting machine. I have at least 12 quilts I need to finish. It’ll be nice to get back to quilting and finishing up ...

Happy New Year and First Finish from Lily Patch Quilts

Happy New Year! I finally did some sewing for me! I made a sample just to make sure so I didn’t add pockets or hardware to it but I really like the simplicity of it. It’s a keeper. I needed a bag that would fit my iPad and other essentials for me to take to church. My other bag was a little too small. I was also wanting to test out some new interfacing to reduce the bulk to see if it would still stand on it’s own and have some body. I’ve been hoarding cork ...
